1. WILLIAM1 HILL was born Abt. 1810 in Kentucky, and died October 19, 1865. He married MARY Potter. She was born Abt. 1811 in Indiana, and died August 01, 1888, in Effingham Co., IL. William Hill was my Great Great Great Grandfather.
William Hill and Mary Potter were married in Madison County Kentucky on May 7, 1827.

More About William: William is  the son of Abner HILL b. abt. 1768 in VA and Elizabeth Fullilove. They were married in 1802 in Madison County Kentucky. A deed record exists that shows that Abner Hill bought land in Boone Co. KY on Oct. 25, 1828, and  William Hill signed the deed as a witness. Abner HILL is listed in the Boone Co. census in 1830 and 1840. He is shown in the 1850 Grant Co. KY census as living in the Benjamin HILL (brother of William) residence. William HILL is enumerated in the Boone Co. KY census for the years 1830, 1840, 1850, and 1860.

Recent dna research has shown that this line of Hills are related to the William Hill - Susannah Smithers line.  Although I'm not certain where our line connects with the William Hill - Susannah Smithers line, I believe that Joel Hill of Madison County may very well be the key to connecting the two lines. Joel Hill lived in the northwest portion of Madison County, in the area of Tate's Creek, Jack's Creek, and the towns of  Million and Foxtown. Joel Hill appears on the tax rolls of Madison County, starting in 1787. Abner Hill lived in the same geographic area, and it would be reasonable to believe that he is related to Joel Hill. There is a Joel Hill mentioned in records as having lived in Amelia County, VA and moving "at great distance".  I'm currently conducting research to show whether Joel and Abner Hill are related.

2. JOHN W.2 HILL, SR. (WILLIAM1) was born December 1831 in Kentucky, and died May 09, 1909 in Illinois. He married NANCY F. STONE January 10, 1852 in Grant Co. Kentucky. She was born June 1835 in Indiana, and died January 16, 1906.

Notes for JOHN W. HILL, SR.: John W. Hill was my Great Great Grandfather. He fought in the 32nd KY infantry for the Union as a corporal.

There is a marriage certificate for John W. Hill and Phoebe Furguson of Connorsville, IN age 66, but it appears that they were never actually married from looking at the actual certificate in Effingham.
